Principle of the reverse osmosis process
However, traditional RO membranes face very big problems with membrane clogging when used on input water with high concentrations of pollution. In 1988, a new type of RO membrane system called Disc Tube RO (Disc Tube RO Membrane Module System) was successfully applied to treat leachate in Ihlenberg, Germany. DTRO system has the following advantages:

CODcr decreased from 12,400 mg / L to less than 50 mg / L; NH3-N decreased from 302-4,530 mg / L to less than 15; conductivity decreased from 19,070 µS / cm to below 70; TOC and SS were not detected. Recovery rate reaches 80%.
